Tapirscan is a barcode-scanning library with an interactive browser demonstration. Its scanner is designed to find barcode regions at different angles, then decode supported linear and two-dimensional formats. The project provides browser and Node WebAssembly support alongside native language bindings, allowing the same scanning core to be used in several application environments.
The public demo places Tapirscan effort levels beside other readers such as ZXing and ZBar. Each selected reader analyzes the same image pixels, with decoded values, processing times and location outlines shown in the result. More options expose additional readers and format choices. This is a useful way to inspect a particular image, but the site explicitly distinguishes the demo from a complete performance benchmark.
Users can choose a sample, load an image or PDF, or provide a camera frame. Rotation, zoom and resolution settings let them explore why a code is or is not found, and PDF controls work page by page. Images, PDF pages and camera frames are processed locally in the browser rather than uploaded to a hosted decoder. Tapirscan is useful for developers testing barcode handling and readers checking a difficult image, while format support, image quality and selected scan effort still affect results.
