About SpeakoFlow

SpeakoFlow is a free, open-source desktop voice tool for dictation, an AI assistant, spoken conversations and meeting notes. Its dictation flow uses a held keyboard shortcut and inserts recognized words wherever the cursor is active. A separate assistant shortcut can act on selected text or answer a request in the current workflow. The homepage also describes a hands-free conversation mode that answers aloud and saves the conversation afterward.

The project offers local speech and language-model options, with cloud providers available only when the user configures them. Its FAQ says offline dictation, cleanup, assistant replies and meeting notes can run on the computer without an API key. Language coverage depends on the selected speech model; the advertised maximum of ninety-nine languages should not be interpreted as equal support by every model. The local-by-default and no-telemetry statements are the project's own privacy description, and enabling a cloud provider changes where the relevant data is processed.

Meeting recording captures microphone and computer audio rather than adding a participant bot to the call. The resulting workflow includes speaker labels, a transcript, a summary and questions about the transcript. On macOS, recording the other side requires a virtual audio device such as BlackHole. Users still need the appropriate consent and permissions before recording other people. SpeakoFlow lists Windows, Apple silicon and Intel Macs, and Linux packages. Its website notes that its macOS build is not yet signed by Apple, so users should review the source, release details and installation guidance rather than treating any warning as a factual assurance of safety. The project is MIT licensed and lists no paid plan, account requirement or word cap, but optional external cloud services can have their own costs and data policies. The distinction between on-device defaults and optional cloud providers matters when choosing its settings.
