Tapelark for Linux is a desktop audio recorder distributed as a Flatpak. It can capture sound from a selected application, several applications or the whole system through PipeWire. The product page distinguishes this from recording through a microphone or a physical loopback cable. When a player announces track information, Tapelark can use titles, artists and albums to organize a recording; otherwise, the site describes splitting sound at silences.
The application also provides internet-radio and podcast workflows, including station search, scheduled radio recordings and keeping podcast episodes. A library view supports browsing by artist and album, editing tags, finding duplicates and exporting audio in formats including AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, WAV and MP3. The Linux requirements name a PipeWire desktop with GNOME or KDE Plasma. Packages are offered for Intel/AMD and ARM systems and receive updates through the product's own Flatpak repository.
Licensing and platform differences need attention. The current page offers a 14-day trial but says individual recordings stop after ten minutes until purchase. Tapelark Pro covers Mac and Linux with the same license key, while the Mac-only license does not unlock Linux. A separate Linux-focused Pro license is described as forthcoming. Some Mac features, including window video recording and voice isolation, are not currently available on Linux, and mute-while-recording is also listed as unavailable there. Recording is presented for private use and does not bypass copy protection. Users should confirm rights to the material, applicable law and the service's terms rather than assume that capture capability authorizes redistribution.
