JungleReader is a free and open-source web reader built around a simple promise: you only see exactly what you have followed. It pulls together RSS feeds, YouTube channels, Reddit, Mastodon and blogs into one chronological reading view, so keeping up with favorite sites no longer means visiting each one or trusting an algorithmic feed to decide for you.
The reader works as a desktop and mobile web app. An Explore view helps find sources, a plugin system lets developers add support for almost any other site or data source, and readers can export and import their data and configuration at any time. Everything is stored locally in the browser or on the device, with cloud backup, sync and native apps listed as coming soon on the project's roadmap.
The project is developed as a spare-time open-source effort, with the code public on GitHub and a development feed you can follow inside the reader itself. For people who miss the straightforwardness of classic feed readers, it is a modern, self-respecting take: skim what is new, follow a link or two, then get outside.
