UltimaOS, or uOS, is a complete personal workspace delivered in the browser under one identity and one security model. The application list covers daily work: uChat for messaging with markdown and voice notes, uMail for private email, uFiles for encrypted storage with secure sharing, uNotes for documents, uBoards for kanban, plus calendar, tasks, video meetings, spreadsheets, presentations, AI assistants, shift planning and an app studio for building on top.
The distinguishing claim is architectural. Every message, file and document is end-to-end encrypted in the browser using post-quantum cryptography, and private keys never leave the user's device, so the operator itself cannot read what users store. The October 2026 technical whitepaper, now at version 4.22, lays out the cryptography, threat model, recovery design and transparency measures in public, and the project hosts source code on GitHub.
The product is explicitly in Alpha, which is the key caveat for early adopters: the breadth of the suite is ambitious, and teams should trial it with non-critical data while it matures. Sign in is built around user-held secrets rather than a conventional password database, consistent with the zero knowledge design. For privacy sensitive users who want one encrypted home for communication and documents rather than five separate services, uOS is one of the more thorough attempts currently in public testing.
