Languessr is a browser game that asks players to identify the language of a Wikipedia article. A round displays an article title and a short passage, then lets the player choose a language. The live beginner screen presents a five-turn game and a selection of 30 languages. It also offers a way to display language names in English, which makes the choice list easier to read for players unfamiliar with native language names.
Players can request another article in the same language using the refresh control or the R key. That gives them a different sample when one passage offers too little evidence. The interface includes a timer and settings, while the article attribution links back to Wikipedia. Languessr suits a quick language-recognition challenge rather than a translation task: the goal is to notice vocabulary, writing systems and other clues, then make a guess. A project GitHub link is available from the game.
