Inca is an independent open-source desktop application for 3D modelling, animation and rendering. Its interface follows the Maya 2020 workflow, including familiar layout and keyboard conventions, but the project explicitly states that it is not affiliated with Autodesk. Downloads are offered for Windows, Linux and macOS under the MIT licence.
The documented feature set spans polygon and NURBS modelling, animation and rigging editors, node-based materials and rendering tools. It also exposes scripting through MEL or JavaScript and supports common interchange formats for moving models between applications. Importantly, the FAQ says it cannot open Maya .ma or .mb scenes: matching a workflow does not mean full file compatibility. Inca saves its own scene format, so artists should test the required import and export path before moving a production project.
